Frieze “Shaggy” Carpet
Durability, Comfort, Style
Frieze carpet is distinguished by its tightly twisted fibers that create a “shaggy”, informal, and casual look. Its busier, twisted surface appearance helps conceal footprints and vacuum lines. Frieze carpets’ twisted fibers are also highly durable, helping resist crushing and matting, making it a top choice for the busiest rooms in your home.
- Fibers are extremely twisted, to the point of curling or kinking
- Very durable, tightly twisted fibers are resilient and more forgiving
- Ideal for rooms where comfort is desired, including bedrooms and basements
- Long fibers and flecks of color help conceal dirt and stains
- If you’re looking for a warm, relaxing carpet built for everyday life, consider frieze carpet. Frieze’s look is unique, yet clean and modern. Frieze carpet is usually softer to walk on and cozy enough to lounge on while watching television or playing board games due to its long and loose construction.
Texture, Warmth, Inviting
Berber is one of the most recognizable carpet styles – its thick, looped tufts of fiber with flecks of color have a distinct look. Designed to work well in high-traffic rooms, Berber was traditionally used in rec rooms and basements, however, its casual style and durability make it a popular choice for any room in your home. Berber’s rich knobby surface has an authentic, natural feel and cozy style.
- Considered one of the most durable carpets because of its tight weave and dense, low pile of fibers.
- Spills tend to sit on the surface instead of soaking into the fibers
- Texture mimics the look of natural fibers, like wool, seagrass, sisal, or jute.
- May have flecks of color, but generally neutral in style allowing it to complement many different home décors.
- With people enjoying more informal lifestyles, many homeowners are decorating for everyday life. Berber is loved for its distinct handcrafted look. If you want to create a homey, comfortable lifestyle, Berber’s knotty look creates texture and a warm, inviting atmosphere.
Luxury, Designer, Trendy
Pattern carpet helps create a sophisticated, designer look with its rich texture and high/low cut and looped fibers. One of the trendiest carpet styles today, the distinct look offers the visual interest of a patterned look while keeping the subtleness of a uniform color. Most popular styles include geometric patterns, pin dot, and lines. You don’t need a big budget to create a home that looks like it’s straight out of a luxury magazine. Interior designers and everyday homeowners, alike, choose pattern carpet due to its unique style and long-lasting durability. A combination of low-cut fibers and tightly wound loops adds an element of design to this carpet
- Available in linear, dotted, and geometric patterns.
- Lower profile is easier to keep clean, durable enough for high traffic areas, less likely to show footprints making it perfect for any room.
- Eye-catching design that adds style and texture to the room, without being overwhelming.
- Pattern carpets stays on trend as a whole home design look.
Plush Carpet and Pets
Plush carpet creates a uniform, soft velvety touch surface that is a great neutral component to any room in the home. The dense nature of the tightly twisted fibers help makes it easier to clean. Some plush styles are available with enhanced stain and soil protection for even greater durability.
Densely packed cut-pile carpet fibers create a lush, cushion like surface to walk or lounge on. The tightly twisted fibers stand upright and are evenly cut at the top creating a surface that feels soft to the touch.
Finally, carpet and pets can go together! Pet owners often find themselves choosing between a home that’s decorated for comfort and one that can withstand the wear and tear of pet’s nails. One of the main reasons people choose plush carpet is because there are no loops that might snag. Accidents do happen, so choosing a plush carpet with additional stain and soil resistance, like PUP® Pet Urine Protection, helps round out this all-around pet-friendly carpet.

Carpet Care & Maintenance FAQ's
What type of vacuum should I use and how often do you recommend vacuuming?
The Carpet and Rug Institute provides a great list of recommended vacuums that can be found here. The CRI recommends vacuuming your carpets at least once a week, and daily in areas of high-traffic use.
Will seams be visible in my rooms?
When installed by professional carpet installers, most of our carpets can be installed with seams that will be virtually unnoticed. Some seams may be slightly visible based on the color and style selected. In general terms, lower pile height carpets (less thickness) will tend to show more seams. Within our product line, only loop pile carpets would fit into the category of lower pile height carpets.
Can carpet be installed without a pad?
Carpet pad is required in order to qualify for our warranties. We recommend padding to enhance the softness of your carpet and to increase the life of your carpet by acting as a shock absorber when someone walks on the carpet.
What type of padding do you recommend for carpet?
The CRI (Carpet and Rug Institute) has a full set of recommendations. For cut pile carpets, we recommend a pad with a thickness of 7/16″ and a density of 6 pounds per cubic feet. For loop pile, carpets we recommend a pad with a thickness of 3/8” and a density of 6 pounds per cubic feet.
I have a stain on my carpet that I can't remove with your recommended methods. Now what?
Depending on your style purchased, there may be additional steps we can utilize to clean your stain. Contact us. You will need to know the style name or number of the carpet you purchased and the nature of the stain you have encountered. Based on that information, we can recommend a course of action to improve your stain.
If I use a vacuum that does not have the CRI Seal of Approval, will my carpet warranty be voided?
While the use of a non-approved vacuum will not void your warranty, using approved vacuum cleaners will extend the life of your carpet and improve the indoor air quality in your home. We strongly recommend the use of Carpet and Rug Institute approved vacuum cleaners. You’ll find a list here.
What is the "new carpet smell," and how long will it last?
Carpets, like many products in the home, can give off a very slight odor when first installed. This odor is a result of the latex (rubber) backing system that holds the carpet tufts to the backing. It normally dissipates within a few days. A persistent urban legend is that this odor is formaldehyde. That is not true. No formaldehyde has been used in the manufacturing of carpet since 1975. The Carpet and Rug Institute has a program to test and ensure that carpets pass a series of stringent tests called the Green Label Plus Program. All of the carpets we manufacture pass the requirements of this program. Get more details on this program here.
Does my warranty transfer from one homeowner to the next?
Our warranties are offered for the various warranty periods, 10 years, 25 years or lifetime, as long as you own the carpet. They are not transferrable.
Does my warranty cover pet stains?
Yes, it does. Contact us for warranty information to learn more.
